Tiling works starts today. First to go up were the kitchen wall tiles. The gap looks quite good. The toilet wall tiles were also 3/4 complete by the end of the day and Ah Di made 2 tile racks for us to put our shampoo, etc. Nice job.
Kitchen tiling stopped at around 3pm and the tilers started to do the water proofing and running the "water lines" in preparation for the floor tiles. The water proofing for the master bedroom toilet was also done before Ah Di left.
In between, the hood and hob from Casa was delivered in the morning. The Genova people were also on time for their delivery of the WC, Basin, etc. The Genova uncles were very patient and they opened up each item for me to check.
The plumber also came to remove some unwanted kitchen pipes including the damaged one which I posted previously, the 2-way taps in my common toilet and master bedroom toilet and lock the unused water points inorder for the tilers to do their job properly. It was a quick fix but everything was done nicely.
Uncle never turn up today. Probably too busy with other burning matters ....

Before and after groutings:
I observed 4 chipped tiles of which 2 were chipped deliberately due to the shape of my ceiling. The other 2 was chipped but I don't know the exact reason. There was also 1 section of the tiling where obviously, the tiler cut the tiles too small, thus the huge gap and unevenness ...The pics are as follows:
Conclusion: We decided to leave it as the lines don't look too bad afterall.

BEFORE:
Notice the weird alignment of the corner tiles?
Notice the chip? Tiler told me ceiling uneven so he has to hack the tiles
Notice the chips? Is it cement or chip? Have to ask Uncle to check ...
[Uncle said that they would be covered by white cement and groutings, so won't be able to see the edge lines]

WAH seems like plenty was done in just a few days. I love the layout of your kitchen. :)
ReplyDeleteThank you! It's a 5I and my previous owner relocated the kitchen door. I actually prefer the original location of the door.
ReplyDeletemm I guess but I think the current layout allows for more cabinets and it shields all the laundry away from the living room view.
ReplyDeleteI think if it door is at the original position you'll be able to see laundry hanging from the living room? :)
Yes you're right. You'll be able to see laundry from the living room but as we've placed the tv along that stretch, we won't be staring at the laundry all the time.
ReplyDeleteThe previous opening will also allow me to relocate the fridge and washing machine away from the other side. So I can extend the washing area to above the sink area.
Either way, we can customise the cabinets as we really need the storage space :)
