He confirmed that the electrician and plumbers would be down today and they would complete the works. He told me that the carpentry would be installed on the 22nd (Day 18). He also took the paint catalogue from me and said that he would purchase the paint and put it at my place and 2 Malay painters would be here at around noon to do the painting. They will work on sunday as well. Turned out that they were going to work at asugama's unit on the same day but they didn't appear at both locations ! Uncle also forgot to procure the rubbish chute for me and he appeared surprised when I told him about it. Uncle also never reappear with the paint after he left.
One reason I suspect Uncle turned up at my unit was because my payment to him was due. He requested that I make 30% payment (which was reasonable considering my masonry works were 100% complete). I also spoke to him and complained that his 2 other guys - Alan and Joseph (Bo Geh) give sky high quotations like IDs. I'll talk abit more in my next post.
Electrical works
The electrician - Ah Tan came at the same time. After going through the no. of electrical points to be reinstalled, etc. Ah Tan realised that he needed reinforcements as he cannot finish the job alone. Ah Tan returned after lunch with Ah Seng and both of them started work immediately. I must comment that Ah Tan is very committed to quality. There are some occasions where the trunkings were not straight and he told Ah Seng to take out and put a new piece. They are very fast workers and even though they started work later than the plumbers, they completed the rewiring of points earlier at about 5.30pm.
Ah Tan told me that were at familyof4 unit on Friday. They should be going to Marsiling on Monday ...
Plumbing works
The plumbers came around noon to check the works required. Ah Yan and the 头手were very efficient and their works are very clean cut with minimal joints. They also provide stoppers (with Uncle's agreement) at each all the critical exit points. I asked Ah Yan how many groups of plumbers are there and he told me that they are based on Eunos and have 5 groups, each in-charge of one area e.g. North, South, East, West, etc ... They are like subcontractors for plumbing jobs for Uncle.
Ah Yan and the 头手 were very detailed in their work and they would confirm the places that I want to run the pipes, etc. One other point I would like to mention is that Uncle would not stinge on quality. He allowed me to put stoppers at the end points of the water piping. This will ease my pain when I have to replace the flexible hoses, etc in the future ....
