When I went back during lunch to check the progress, I observed that they were very meticulous with their works and they took the trouble to use newspaper to cover every inch of my exposed flooring, cabinets and door, and used plastic sheets to cover my furniture. One of them also went around to use masking tape to cover the edge of the doors, switches, skirtings, etc.
While I was there, my master bedroom toilet's entrance had been nicely plastered and the 1st coat of paint was more or less done. Just before I left my home, the Malay Uncle has already started to paint the living room ceiling.
In the evening when I was back home, I was surprised that they have completed the painting of the ceilings of my 2 toilets, kitchen and living room, and the walls of my living room and master bedroom ! That's really quick. They have also plastered the cracks and smoothed the entrance of my kitchen so that the installers of the PD doors will have an easy time tomorrow. Overall, I would give a 9 out 10 points for their works. The quality indeed commensurate with the price paid !
My previous contractor/ID that did my house 8 years ago did a terrible painting job. When I was inspecting my house then, I could see "shadows" or areas where they only did 1 coat of paint. In fact, my ex-contractor only bought 1 tin of paint for the living room, expecting to do 2 coats with that. When I questioned him, he quietly bought another tin of paint but of a different colour ???? I was quite tired arguing with him then.
Now, it's really different. When me and my wifey compared the quality of painting work, they are really better :) Hope Uncle can continue to maintain this group of painters :)
[Just one minor negative point: The painters forgot to paint the small section near my window grilles in the living room. Probably because it was locked. Will have to let Jason know so that they can touch up.]
Also to update, Uncle called me at around 10pm to inform me that the carpentry guys would be installing the cabinets tomorrow ! That's great :) Hope that the carpentry is as per the design and the laminates are pasted in the correct direction ....
