Uncle came in at around 10.20am to check the progress and confirm the delivery of tiles, sand, cement, etc. Then came the shocking news ... he recalled one worker - Freddy to his Pasir Ris site as one of his workers was out-of-action. In the end, only left 2 workers - Singh and Silva to do all the work. Singh was busy removing the debris while Silva only managed to finish his hacking works by evening. The sand only started to be hauled up at around 5pm+ ....
The tilers - Ah How and Ah Han came after lunch as they were informed by Uncle that the sand and tiles would be there by 2pm. They inspected the site and told me that it would be impossible to start because by the time the sand arrive and they mix the concrete plaster, it would be time to go home. In the end, they only unloaded their stuff and went back after that.
At 6pm+, I checked my time and realised that it would be impossible for them to finish the works on time, thus I have no choice but to dirty my hands and start to haul the d*** debris myself by carrying the bags of debris down 1 level to the lift landing, load them onto a trolley and then push them to the disposal point downstairs ! All in all, I carried at least 30 bags of debris!!!!
That was not all ! At around 5-6pm, the garung guni uncle who was in-charged of removing the hacked cabinets came with another worker - Rasol. Singh managed to get Rasol to stay back and help with the tiles and debris. I also helped to carry and stack up the tiles, at least 15 stacks in all.
I told myself that Uncle had to compensate me for it !!! and give me more discount because I stand-in for his worker!! haha ... (which he did when he gave ma special price for the painting of my living room and master bedroom as this was not in the original quotation) ...
I was dead tired by the time they finished at around 9pm....

WHoa.. you really helped with the moving! *kudos to you*
ReplyDeleteYes because I saw that the workers probably cannot finish by 10pm at the rate they are going. I'm not the type that can sit down and watch. Might as well help them so that I can go back and have my dinner and they can knock off earlier.
ReplyDeleteThe decision to do so was a good one because Uncle finally relented and gave me a special price for painting my living room and master bedroom :)
